About the Artist:

Peter Hayward (1905–1993) was an American artist known for his realistic landscape and cityscape paintings. Born in Keene, New Hampshire, Hayward was a self-taught artist who spent 15 years as a portrait sculptor, primarily working with children’s busts. This experience taught him to work quickly, as children rarely remain still. In 1950, he turned to painting, gaining recognition for his detailed, lifelike depictions of urban and natural scenes. Hayward’s art is celebrated for its precision, capturing both the stillness of nature and the energy of city life.
