Description
The Theodore Alexander English Epitome Console Table pairs refined Italian-inspired proportions with a deliberately aged country-house finish.
Theodore Alexander’s catalogue identifies this piece as model 5302-093 and describes it as Country House grey painted grained mahogany with gilt highlighting. The catalogue also confirms its four frieze drawers, gilt rosettes, brass handles, turned tapering fluted legs, carved capitals, and leaf-cast brass feet. The design was inspired by a 19th-century Italian original.
Its narrow profile makes it especially versatile in an entryway, hallway, dining room, or behind a sofa. Four drawers provide discreet storage, while the tall fluted legs and sculptural hardware give the piece a light architectural presence.
The original Theodore Alexander maker’s plaque is present inside one drawer.
Condition is good and consistent with age and use. The heavily textured, worn appearance across the painted surface is intentional to the original design. Additional wear includes a chip to the rear-right corner of the top molding. The drawers operate properly, and the table is stable and complete.
See it in person at Design Consignment Gallery. Walk-ins are welcome daily from 10–6.
