Some artwork fills a wall. This one changes the feeling of the room.

“The Way Through” draws the eye into a narrow passage between monumental, canyon-like forms, following the water toward a pale and distant opening. Broad, fluid washes of rose, ochre, gray-green, maroon, and blue give the landscape the feeling of memory rather than strict geography. The route narrows, turns, and continues.

The artist and original title are unknown. “The Way Through” is a gallery-assigned descriptive title. Close examination indicates that the work is likely an original watercolor on paper, possibly with graphite underdrawing, though no artist documentation or receipt accompanies it.

Presented under glass in a sturdy solid wood frame with layered cream, green, and white matting. The frame and visible matting present exceptionally well, giving the piece substantial presence and making it ready to live with immediately.

This is a must-see piece. Its scale, softened color, and atmospheric depth are much more compelling in person than they are through a screen.
